
OFFICINE MARCHETTI
Officine Marchetti S.p.a. was founded in Carrara in 1967 by the industrialist Cesare Marchetti who still manages the company, together with his family.
In the early stages of its activity the company carried out precision mechanical processes on commission offering a high-quality, specialised product. In 1974 Officine Marchetti patented its first hydraulic tensioners for tensioning of the blades for gangsaws for cutting blocks of marble.
The production of tensioners for diamond wire saws began a new growth phase for the company. The production activities were concentrated increasingly on improving the product by constantly raising quality standards and reliability.
In 1987 Officine Marchetti S.p.a. developed the hydraulic tensioner for tensioning the blades for block cutting and the power units.
With this new product, Officine Marchetti already leaders in the production of hydraulic tensioners for marble, bring new vigour to their name on world markets, becoming the principal supplier of tensioners, tie-rods and hydraulic power units for the leading manufacturers of gangsaws for cutting blocks of marble and granite.
In 1994 they attained UNI EN 29002 (ISO 9002) certification for the production and sale of hydraulic tensioners, stretchers and hydraulic power units. In 1996 they attained UNI EN ISO 9002:1994 certification.
In 1997 Officine Marchetti S.p.a.’s innovative strategy led them to design, produce and sell CNC machines for the cutting and shaping of slabs and cubic stone in marble, stone and granite.
The new production ranges and the new organisational requirements required more space in which the company could continue to grow. In 2001 Officine Marchetti S.p.a. purchased an new area, consisting in 15,000 metres of plant and 10,000 metres of yard and open space.
In 2003 the company’s certification was extended to include the new production unit with attainment of UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification.
In 2004 the company’s certification was extended to include the new production unit with attainment of UNI EN ISO 14001:1996 certification.
